The Monkey Guard Course spans a 3 hour comprehensive training course, followed by several 2 hour outdoor sessions with wild macaques.
This training is designed to equip participants with the skills to become a monkey guard volunteer. It covers various aspects of long-tailed macaques,
-including their behavior,
-troop dynamics,
-troop appearance,
-techniques for herding them back to their natural habitat from residential areas
-dietary habits,
-providing advice to the public,
-human-wildlife conflict resolutions,
-assistance in rescues,
-educational outreach,
-problem-solving,
-understanding the reasons for their presence in houses and residential areas,
-assisting on Monkey Adventure Walks and presentations.
You will join a team and be summoned when issues arise.
Monkey guarding is entirely voluntary and at your own risk.
We are looking for individuals who are available during the day. Monkeys are active only during daylight hours.
This monkey guard training program is not suitable for individuals who simply want to learn more about macaques or learn basic skills. (This you will learn when attending an awareness presentation)
Monkey guarding requires experience gained by participating in our team and guarding cannot be done independently. When enrolling in this training, participants should be available during the day to actively participate, assist in presentations, join monkey adventure walks, handle incidents at hotspots, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
